Enabling Pop-ups
One of the features of Windows Service Pack 2 is that it installs the Pop-up Blocker tool to Internet Explorer. By default the Pop-up Blocker is set to enabled. The tools intention is to prevent unwanted pop-up advertisements from appearing on your machine (as well as other pop-ups of a malicious nature). From time to time you may wish to allow pop-ups for specific sites (i.e. ones you know you won't get advertisements popping up). In the case of www.icheme.org this is important for some of the web pages to operate correctly.
The following steps describe how to enable popups for this site only:
- In Internet Explorer, click the 'Tools -> Pop-up Blocker -> Pop-up Blocker Settings...' menu
- In the window that appears, enter http://www.icheme.org into the field labelled 'Address of Web site to allow:'
- Click the 'Add' button to add the IChemE web site to the list of sites that are allowed to create pop-ups
- Click the 'Close' button to close the settings screen
- Once this has been completed, pop-up windows will appear as expected for the IChemE web site
